X SAT – RAK Half Marathon’s Official Partner

The Ras Al Khaimah International Half Marathon is currently the Richest Half Marathon in the world and X SAT is proud to support the event. X SAT will help Marathon’s Organizers to stay online at various points during the race as well as at  the press office by deploying latest Inmarsat technology, Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN). Utilizing BGAN services Marathon officials, judges and press will be able to send latest results, pictures, stories and even videos to Marathon Coordination Center allowing online users to see event’s progress online.

X SAT team’s challenge is to provide an uninterrupted communication link in remote and mountain areas in one of U.A.E emirates – Ras Al Khaimah (RAK).  

The RAK International Half Marathon is in the 2nd year running and will be held on February 8th 2008. The RAK International Half Marathon 2008 will award over 200,000 USD in cash prizes, making it the world's richest half marathon! The RAK Half Marathon is organized by Premier Marathons and supports the Paul Tergat Foundation. The mission of the Paul Tergat Foundation is to "mobilize resources to promote the well-being of mankind, particularly extremely disadvantaged and marginalized persons and communities by providing access to food, education, health and other basic human needs as well as facilitating sustainable capacity building programmes" and X SAT is willing to help support this cause.
