X SAT to provide BGAN Terminals to Inmarsat DP.

X SAT has been selected by leading INMARSAT DISTRIBUTION PARTNER EVOSAT to provide BGAN terminals for R-BGAN migration campaign. Evosat will target Inmarsat R-BGAN customers with WIDEYE SABRE1 BGAN Terminals.

12 FEB 2008 X SAT FZE, U.A.E.-based Company and EVOSAT, South Africa-based leading INMARSAT Distribution Partner, today announced the launch of campaign to aggressively market the most cost-effective BGAN Class 3 terminal: the Wideye Sabre1.
The campaign will target existing R-BGAN customers in Africa by providing an incentive to acquire BGAN terminal and services from Evosat.

The SABRE1 terminal is developed and produced by AddValue Technologies, Singapore-based engineering house and an accredited Inmarsat BGAN manufacturer. X SAT FZE is AddValue’s Master Distributor for Middle East / Africa / CIS regions. EVOSAT is the only African Inmarsat Distribution Partner.

INMARSAT has officially announced that R-BGAN services will be discontinued after 31 December 2008 and no new R-BGAN connections are possible after 31 March 2008.

When it was introduced in 2002, R-BGAN was a landmark in Inmarsat data services, offering continuous and secure connectivity over a 144kbps shared channel. But, with the launch of BGAN, users can now benefit from a range of significant additional features such as data speeds up to 492 kbps; Streaming channels up to 256 kbps; simultaneous voice and broadband data connections. And the launch of the third Inmarsat-4 satellite this year will enable the introduction of global coverage for BGAN.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of R-BGAN customers will require new BGAN terminals and subscriptions in very near future with a large number of subscribers located in Africa. The only Inmarsat Distribution Partner to be based in Africa, EVOSAT, is predicting a strong pick-up and sales during the campaign.
